Turn off power to your water heater. Find the water heater bypass valve usually located inside the rv behind the heater. If you are not getting spark you could have a bad electrode or other board issues. Check for any corroded or damaged working parts.

The last step of the rv water heater troubleshooting process is to turn off the lp system to check for a spark. However this is a sign that you have your water heater temperature set too high. Make sure both the gas and electric switches are in the off position and wait a while for water to cool down. You will want to have a nice blue flame that is lighter in the center and not jumping around.

The final thing to look at is the flame. Okay but what if you get through each of these steps and still can t figure out what s wrong. Reduce the temperature settings on your water heater and this should correct the problem.
