Cutting the stringers 1. Easy and cheap shed stair steps using two boards replaced broken uneven cinder block steps for our shed with these quick and easy steps made from one 2x6x10. When starting the staircase construction you ll need to decide how the stringers will connect to the upper and lower. In our example you would need to mark it at 7 3125.

Attach the bottom riser into each stringer and check the squareness of the stair. Double box steps are built using the same techniques as for a single step. Cut a notch in the bottom of the stringers to fit over a piece of 2 x 4 lumber making sure to cut the notch in the same place on each stringer. Fasten the two frames together with the back framing members flush with each other.

Cut three stair stringers from 2 x 12 lumber to accommodate a 3 1 2 stair height. Nail the second riser and screw on the two 2x6 bottom treads leaving a in gap between the boards. Build your top step as you would for a single step. Lay out a sufficiently long piece of 2 in 12 in 5 1 cm 30 5 cm lumber.

You will need one box for each step. Stringers also known as stringer board are the outer part of the staircase housing. Build your bottom step twice as wide as a single step. The bottom riser will probably need to be cut to custom height.

Add all risers and treads up to the top of the stairs. Don t cut it down to length just yet. They keep the stairs secured on. For each stair cut 10 treads from 2 x 10 lumber and 7 risers from osb sheets.
