In the planning phase for the reno it was determined that adding on an attic to acommodate the replica of the attic bedroom would have altered the familiar street view and roof line of the house.

Marcia asks carol if she might have the emptied attic as a bedroom. Marcia will fix this using posters and an old rug the family has. Greg suggests to mike that the attic would be a good room for him and marcia does the same to carol. Mike implies that the attic is too small to be converted into a bedroom.

It begins with greg wanting to move out but mike kayos that idea. Carol points out the walls are unfinished and the floor a mess. Mike and carol are giving away or throwing out everything from the attic. A good episode a nice ending to the best season of the show.

At the end of season 4 greg turns the attic into his bedroom. Greg asks for his own room. This leads to yet another battle between the sexes as greg finally gives in but an unhappy bobby and peter are sick of sharing their room with greg so they devise a scheme to oust marcia from the attic. When the family cleans out the attic both greg and marcia realize what a great room it would be and they both begin fighting over who gets it.
